About

Welcome to toryrascal.com!

During the forthcoming general election campaign my blog might go through some minor changes in content; in particular, once I have identified my personal campaigning priorities I might tend to blog on them more than on general issues.

FAQs

Who are you?

One thing you need to know - I have a freakishly cartoonish face.

One thing you need to know - I have a freakishly cartoonish face.

When I’m not blogging, I work in communications for an educational charity, and I am a military reservist officer.  As for my name… I opt for anonymity because I don’t want to complicate my political activities with my professional life. Not yet, anyway. I’m not completely secretive, however, and go by my own name when I’m not writing blog posts.  Added to that, I’m a pretty reasonable and polite chap; whatever I might write about politically, I deal with people as people, not tribesmen (or -women). I’m eminently approachable and up for a chat with almost anyone. That principle is, however, suspended (in general) for BNP supporters and other bigots.

What do you write about?

My main areas of interest are defence, law and order, liberty and our dear, dear failing Labour Government.

What’s your background?

I’m a Tory from a broken home.  Growing up poor, and working hard to get into a well-paid job and to take on heavy responsibilities taught me that self-reliance, determination and hard work are a better route to prosperity than dependence upon the State.  That, in a nutshell, is why I am a Conservative.  I never forget my roots, and I never forget that Labour has allowed people like me to languish in poverty, apparently believing that they will be better off if they rely upon the State than upon the sweat of their brow.

I was a full-time military officer in HM Armed Forces for seven years before leaving to find a career in PR and communications.  I’ve seen service throughout the UK, in the Middle East and Cyprus, and, most recently, in Afghanistan.  Labour’s betrayals of the armed forces in terms of equipment, conditions and respect are, to my mind, the greatest derelictions of duty that this country has ever seen from its government.

I am blogging in an entirely personal capacity. the views here are my own and do not necessarily reflect the views or policies, stated or otherwise, of the MOD or the Conservative Party.

What’s your comments policy?

Be nice.  Not to me, per se, but to the decent folk who, I’m told, read this blog from time to time.  I’m reasonably happy to let people express themselves in – err – earthy terms, but racism, homophobia and xenophobia will not be tolerated.

I approve all comments, however critical, as long as they fall within the above limits.  In the unlikely event that I have posted something that you find personally offensive, however, please alert me via email rather than through comments. That way I hope to resolve your complaint speedily and discreetly, without drawing further attention to the offending item.  As I said, I like people, and don’t want to scare them off.  I’m a nice guy, y’see.

Oh, and feel free to leave me feedback on my posts, but bear in mind that I am seldom inclined to engage in comment ping-pong with people.
